(May 7, 1950) Ukraine has declared independence from the U.S.S.R. And will henceforth live as a democracy that will be led by president Yu Krane.

The Indian Commonwealth gladly recognizes and wishes long-lived, friendly relations with this new nation. We shall establish a Ukrainian Embassy in our capital of Bombay, and hope you will do the same in Kiev.

French ministers had made a mistake. They didn't realize that a new nation had come into existence, Ukraine. They scrambled, thinking of what to do. They soon found a post card and scribbled a message onto the back, sending it off. The Ukrainian representatives would receive the card, appearing as:
