Millions had been killed as a result of clumsy use of nuclear weapons. The French, despite being a major part of the ManPro and OpUnthink, saw it important to call together a convention to discuss the future of nuclear weapons on Earth. All nations were invited to send representatives.

The People's Republic of China will be sending a representative to the "Paris Convention" regarding the future of nuclear weapons on Earth as well as a possible discussion about diplomacy in the future, etc.

The President of the Provisional Government of India shall gladly attend the meeting. Would you consider passing a bill banning research on Uranium enrichment and the development of nuclear weapons? This cannot happen again, and nuclear weapons in the wrong hands would simply be devastating. This might be slightly off the topic, but shall we also discuss the prevention of Antarctic land claims in this Convention?

"Welcome, représentants! It is magnificent to have you all in attendance today. Allow me to skip directly to the point.
The Second World War was raging, as was the Fascist Reich. This very nation of France was occupied by the Reich. The Manhattan Project was led by the United States and was performed in collaboration with Canada and England. The Project not only destroyed the cities of Moscow, Kiev, and Minsk, but it gave those nations the hunger and the power to bring on another war, starting in 1945, which soon led to hundreds of millions of people dying directly from the war, and many millions passing from the subsequent winter. If this does not convince the people of the Earth to abolish this sort of tyrannic power, I haven't a clue what will. Any nation obtaining Nuclear Weaponry is automatically the highest threat to the safety and prosperity of all of mankind. The French Government In-Exile was active in both ManPro and OpUnthink, with the US and UK, and we offer the greatest of apologies, however it is time that we ended these awful weapons."

"Assuming, as well as hoping, that we are all in agreement, unfortunately this will not be done overnight. We must first establish a basis for international law, then we must establish a policing force to enforce the international law, then we must remove any nuclear weapons strongholds and stores there are. France dedicates its services, and offers its own soldiers to deploy to North America to search for remnants from the Manhattan Project."

"We in the NRC feel that we should not abolish nuclear weapons but instead use them for research in nuclear technology possibly benefiting the world more. But if the majority vote is to eradicate them then the NRC will gladly support this." [OOC: Is The United States completely destroyed?]

"When you refer to nuclear technology, do you speak of nuclear power and nuclear propulsion?"

"Yes, specifically Nuclear Propulsion. I feel that we could leave the Earth and travel far away into the great unknown, maybe find new life, on a planet not destroyed. We could use the thing that was used to destroy us, to save us."

"Well, generally speaking, nuclear propulsion, both naval and aeronautical, wouldn't be created through the use of nuclear weapons, rather, would be created through a completely different formula. The basis for this convention centers on nuclear weapons."

Well, I think the general opinion of our citizens is that nuclear weapons should be completely abolished, and all production of uranium should be stopped. Maybe we can create an international law about this?

Well, here's the thing, nuclear energy seems to be a very good of energy, and I am sure it will continue to be in the future, so I am against eliminating nuclear energy production. And you cannot produce Uranium: it's a naturally occurring element. However, uranium enrichment is an entirely different matter. Enriched uranium and plutonium, both man-made, are assembled in a supercritical mass in an atomic bomb, setting of a chain reaction. We should have laws prohibiting research into these materials, however I urge the nations here to consider the pros of nuclear energy as well as the cons, and urge them to read up on the details before making broad statements.

I agree with Mister Kawale, saying that enriched uranium and plutonium research should be completely eradicated, while Nuclear Energy should be further researched, but I suggest that power plants be built far from all fault lines, so as not to have earthquakes that trigger explosions, adding to the fallout already covering the entire Earth.

"Monsieur Abha, I don't believe that anyone, except possibly the Chinese representative, is implying that nuclear energy needs to be banned. I have specifically advocated for the opposite. But throwing around insults, specifically claiming that the Chinese are uninformed, is inefficient, is a waste of time, and contributes nothing to the issue at hand, which is the subject of nuclear weapons. I have stated numerable times that this is a discussion regarding the future of nuclear weapons. If the representatives in attendance here do not understand this, I suggest you leave these halls at this very moment and return to where you came from!
Here we are discussing a ban on nuclear weapons. Nuclear energy, at least by definition of this Convention, is acceptable, and encouraged even. We should prevent the research and construction of nuclear weapons, for the future of our nations, the future of our security, and the future of mankind! It is absolutely essential we keep these weapons out of the wrong hands, and by eradicating the productive research of such compounds, we eradicate the possibility of nuclear weapons, and we prevent another ManPro, and thus another OpUnthink."

I was not misinformed, rather making a statement that stated exactly the point of us here: to discuss the future of nuclear weapons. I specifically stated *that nuclear weapons should be completely abolished* and not that nuclear energy should be abolished. This is *not* an energy convention, but a nuclear weapons convention.

I understand, but the comment about halting Uranium production just seemed a little odd to me, especially as our country relies on it. If there was a misinterpretation, it was a very easy one to make, just as the interpretation of me insulting the Chinese ambassador was a misinterpretation. I was simply trying to make a point. You are right this is a weapons conference, and it seems to me that the consensus is that nuclear weapons should banned. If we are in agreement, I believe can begin drafting a law.
